Visiting Koh Phangan

Koh Samui's prettier neighbor

While I was on Koh Samui, I also visited the island’s neighbour, Koh Phangan. Little did I know that I’d end up coming back to this island a few times.

Koh Phangan is smaller than Koh Samui and attracts different people. To me, the island appeared to be more relaxed, more hippy-ish and also (bonus!) much more vegan-friendly. Sure, there were also more party people – the only downside. Parties everywhere: full moon party; half moon party; quarter moon party; no moon party; jungle party; forest party; unicorn party… (ok – you see my point). Parties. Everywhere.

Still, as I said – lots of different people on the island. I met Mona, her daughter and husband on the island, a traveling family from Canada.

On the ferry back to Koh Samui, I witnessed this amazing sunset! It turns out that I preferred Phangan over Samui, even with all the party people. Tip: Stay away from Haad Rin, this is the beach where the full moon party takes place.
